Bilateral research project Romania-Belgium
NEW SYNTHESES OF ANTIOXIDANTS BY CATALYTIC ROUTES
Contract: ANCS 50CB/2008. Acronym: SINANTOX
Reasearch Field: CHEMISTRY
Priority Areas: NEW MATERIALS. NANOTECHNOLOGY. DRUG DEVELOPMENT.
This bilateral project belongs to the priority areas of new materials, drug development and nanotechnology. The project addresses green chemistry challenges, namely optimizing the synthesis of (poly)phenolic antioxidants by a strategic approach: use of metathesis protocols and novel transition metal complexes as efficient promoters. A secondary focus of the project is the synthesis of value-added organic products and polymeric materials for targeted applications in biology, medicine, pharmaceuticals.
Partners
Partners within this bilateral cooperation are the Institute of Organic Chemistry „C.D. Nenitescu” of the Romanian Academy and the Department of Chemistry, University of Liège, two institutions of high standards in research and education. Joining together research teams of internationally recognized specialists from Belgium and Romania, the project aims at combining the complementary expertise of the involved researchers, as well as at taking full advantage of the facilities available at the two research institutions.
