GENERAL INFORMATION
Bilateral research project Romania-South Africa
TRANSITION METAL CATALYSTS FOR APPLICATIONS IN THE SYNTHESIS OF FINE CHEMICALS AND POLYMERIC MATERIALS
Contract: ANCS 81CB/2008. Acronym: CATMET
Period: 2008-2010
Reasearch Field: CHEMISTRY
Priority Areas: NEW MATERIALS. NANOTECHNOLOGY
This bilateral project belongs to the new materials and nanotechnology
priority areas. The project is particularly focused on novel catalytic systems
for metathesis based on transition metal complexes and organometallic compounds,
as well as on the synthesis of highly performing organic products and polymeric
materials for targeted applications in biology, medicine, microelectronics
and other industrial domains.
PARTNERS
Partners within this bilateral cooperation are the Institute of Organic
Chemistry „C.D. Nenitescu” of the Romanian Academy and the North-West
University, Potchefstroom (Department of Chemistry and the Chemical Resource
Beneficiation), two institutions of long-standing high standards in research
and education. Assembling a joint research team of internationally recognized
specialists from South Africa and Romania, the project looks at combining the
complementary expertise of the involved researchers as well as at the best
possible use of the facilities available in the two research institutions.
